About the system
The Internet Booking System links directly with our
Auriga's Booking and Despatch System, enabling automatic
confirmation and the facility to accept ASAP and
pre-booked jobs for account customers.
Internet booking is quicker than email and fax booking,
and requires no re-entry of data. Booking is immediate,
and customers get an online confirmation of their job.
The system was developed in conjunction with Auriga, and
is currently exclusive to companies like us using Auriga
Booking and Despatch systems.
What is 'real-time'?
You may have heard of other Internet
Booking systems, but ours is the only
one currently working in real-time,
enabling 2-way communication. While
other systems are effectively only
processing booking requests, our
Internet booking interacts directly with
our Auriga System to check how busy the
fleet is before accepting the booking.
So when a customer books a job, they
know it is complete. It is this
functionality that allows the system to
process ASAP bookings as well as
pre-booked jobs.
How to book a taxi
This is done in 5 simple
steps. The system stores and
suggests previous
information, meaning that a
standard ASAP job can be
booked in seconds.
1. Journey details:
The user can type an
address, or select from a
list of previously-used
addresses.
2. Validate address:
If the address has not been
used before, it will be
checked against a database
of all the residential and
business addresses in the uk
3. Preferences: The
user can select a vehicle
type, or type specific
instructions.
4. Availability: The
system connects to the
Auriga system and checks if
there is a vehicle to do the
job. If there is not, the
system can offer a taxi at a
different time.
5. Confirm: The user
is asked to confirm the job,
at which point the booking
is complete.

Account management
Users are able to manage
their account online.
Update profile: Users can
change their telephone and
email records, and the
password they use to
connect. If the user wants
to use PIN numbers, they can
be set up too.
Regular addresses :
Customers can set up regular
addresses, and allocate them
easily-recognisable names,
such as 'work' or 'home'.
Order history: The user can
view details of
previously-made bookings.
The list of jobs is easily
navigable, and can be
ordered by various criteria.
Full job details can be
viewed with a click of the
mouse, and un-dispatched
jobs can be cancelled if
required.

When the fleet is busy
Imagine it's 8.30 am on
Monday and a customer tries
to book an ASAP taxi. The
Internet Booking System
checks with the Auriga
System but there are
currently too many jobs
waiting for despatch. Rather
than simply returning a
message telling the customer
that the booking can't be
taken (or worse, just
accepting the job anyway),
the system actually checks
the number of future
bookings to see when a car
could reach the customer and
offers them a taxi then
(e.g. 8.45am). This also
works for pre-booked jobs,
so that if the booking
limits are reached for the
requested time it can offer
the customer a taxi either
earlier or later than the
original time.
|
Can it be abused?
Using this system is as safe
as allowing account
customers to book jobs over
the phone. All Internet
Booking customers have their
own account with a password
so that only they can use
it. It is possible to set up
a number of users on one
account, and allocate each
user their own password |

Will customers like it?
The Internet Booking System is
great news for customers
because they know they can
always get through , and they
can book their taxi in a matter
of seconds. The system allows
them to select locations from a
full UK database of 24 million
business and residential
addresses, and enables them to
set up regular pick-up points
that can be easily recalled for
future bookings. In addition,
they have secure online access
to their account details and
previous journeys at the touch
of a button. |

What are the benefits?
The benefits are potentially
huge. The system frees up your
staff to take other calls, there
is less opportunity for customer
disputes (e.g. "I said 5, not
5.30"), and the automatic
confirmation saves time and
money. In addition, using such
an advanced system can help to
make your company the preferred
choice for Is the system
reliable?
The Internet Booking System is
based upon Oracle database
technology, which has an
unrivalled reputation for
stability and resilience. |
